Nick Masson is a research assistant working on the development of mobile air quality sensors. He does not purport to be a specialist of any kind, rather finds satisfaction in contributing to the many elements of design, quantification and implementation. Recent projects include the development and validation of the Uganda Pod (UPOD) embedded-system used for remote monitoring of pollutants in developing world applications. The UPOD has been used in preliminary Environmental Justice studies, and is also being evaluated as part of a cooperative agreement with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Ongoing work consists of developing robust algorithms and procedures for accurately interpreting pollutant sensor measurements.
Other interests include: systems & controls, analytics, computational modeling and analytics.
When not in the lab, Nick can typically be found in the mountains, riding his bike or rock climbing.
